Longtime Edmonton Oilers reporter Tony Brar is leaving the team
The Edmonton Oilers will need to hire a new team reporter for this upcoming season.
Training camp is only weeks away, and the Oilers are set to open up their regular season schedule in less than a month, but they are without a lead team reporter after a surprising announcement on Monday afternoon.
Longtime Oilers reporter Tony Brar announced on social media that he will be leaving the team after spending the last eight years with the organization. He did not specify where his next gig will be.
“The best eight years of my life,” Brar wrote in a lengthy post on X. “I found my voice here. I found confidence here. I made mistakes here. I grew & evolved here. I experienced some of the best this beautiful life has to offer here.
“I leave with memories that will last a lifetime. But the greatest gift was the people I got to share them with.”

Brar first joined the Oilers in August 2018 as a reporter and digital content producer. In that role, he became a familiar face to Edmonton hockey fans as he hosted intermission segments, conducted post-game interviews, and did extensive work with the OilersTV team.
He was rewarded for his hard work with a promotion to lead team reporter for the Oilers in 2022, where he helped cover the team through two Stanley Cup Final appearances in 2024 and 2025.
Though his next destination is not yet known, it appears he will be leaving the Alberta capital to pursue another opportunity.
“There is sadness in saying goodbye. But there is also an overwhelming amount of gratitude,” Brar wrote. “I arrived here chasing a dream. I leave ready to chase another. Edmonton, you will always be home.”
There is no word on who will be coming in to replace Brar. It would make sense if Paige Martin took on a bigger role, as she was the other side of the on-camera OilersTV crew.
The team is actively recruiting for the position, as the Oilers currently have a job posting for a team reporter and producer role.
