Connor McDavid might’ve had McDonald’s temporarily change its name in honour of him, but Edmonton Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner wasn’t gonna let his captain have all the fun.
Though it’s been a roller-coaster season for the Oilers netminder, hungry Edmontonians will soon be able to grab a bite at a local pizzeria that bears a recognizable name. Pizza 73, which was founded in Edmonton back in 1985, will be temporarily changing its name to Pizza 74 after announcing a collaboration with Skinner this morning.
The number change to 74, of course, is a nod to Skinner’s jersey number. The collab is also set to feature a limited-time special called the “Skinner Dinner,” which includes a large tw0-topping pizza and three drinks for $18.99.
“I’m thrilled to team up with Pizza 74 for this exciting special,” Skinner said in a press release. “As a born and raised Edmontonian, it’s an honour to collaborate with a local brand that’s been such a staple in our community and launch the Skinner Dinner for fans to enjoy.”

With Pizza 73 being an Edmonton staple, having a local player like Skinner be the face of the rebrand makes a lot of sense. While the chain has 85 locations throughout Western Canada, 29 of those stores call Edmonton home.
With no formal announcement, the pizzeria launched this rebrand last week, showcasing a revised 74 logo to replace its previous 73 one. An official Pizza 74 website is set to launch any time now and the new brand identity is set to appear on the boards during Oilers games.
“Pizza 73, temporarily now Pizza 74, is proud to partner withĀ Stuart Skinner, a true local hero, to bring fans a unique experience,” saidĀ Adam Williamson, marketing director of Pizza 73.
“We can’t wait to see everyone enjoying the Skinner Dinner while cheering on the Oilers.”
It has not been confirmed how long this temporary change will last and how long the “Skinner Dinner” special will be available for purchase.
While Oilers fans haven’t always been happy with Skinner’s play, there is no question that they’ll be a tad bit appreciative of the goaltender for helping them get cheaper pizza for gamedays.
