Aggressive Oilers fan in Florida livid after loss to Panthers

Tensions were high at Amerant Bank Arena during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers.

Both teams ramped up the physicality in this one, ensuring we see plenty more throughout the remainder of the series. That said, the tension wasn’t only high between those competing, but also those watching.

After the game had ended, a video quickly circulated on X showing an Oilers fan getting into it with a fan who appeared to be wearing a jersey from this year’s All-Star Game. Another Oilers fan and a security guard intervened and appeared to have de-escalated the situation, but that quickly changed.

The original Oilers fan was able to get away from those trying to calm him down and lunged at the individual filming the entire situation. The video ends shortly after, but it appears whoever was filming was knocked to the ground, whether it was by the upset Oilers fan or perhaps getting tripped up elsewhere.

The Oilers fan can be heard saying “Bettman” several times throughout the video, indicating he felt the officiating played a big part in the Panthers win last night. Many felt the referees were too involved, calling 10 penalties in total, six of which went against the Oilers.

As upset as some were by the officiating, the biggest issue for the Oilers is their lack of scoring. They’ve beaten Sergei Bobrovsky once through two games, while going 0/7 on the power play. They’ll need to quickly rediscover their offence if they have a shot at winning this series, and will have a chance to do so in Game 3 on Thursday night.
