Edmonton Oilers' Draisaitl hijacks question for McDavid with funny answer

Leon Draisaitl made it very clear that nobody can learn to be as good as Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid.

The two Oilers superstars sat beside each other at the podium in Florida on Sunday afternoon to take questions from reporters. Edmonton has arrived in the Sunshine State tied 1-1 with the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final.

Both McDavid and Draisaitl have been firing on all cylinders through two games, combining for nine points so far. That includes a Game 1 OT winner off Draisaitl’s stick as well as an unreal play in Game 2 that saw McDavid dance through Aaron Ekblad and Aleksander Barkov to find Draisaitl on the backdoor for a tap-in.

It may have been one of the prettiest goals ever scored in Stanley Cup Final history. McDavid was asked what he would tell a young hockey player who wanted to learn how to do that.

The Oilers captain struggled to answer, and that’s when Draisaitl took things into his own hands.

“You can’t learn that,” Draisaitl butted in. “Let me answer it for you, I’ll answer it for him.”

The room of reporters erupted in laughter at Draisaitl’s interruption, and even prompted a laugh from the usually stoic McDavid as well.

The two superstars have found a way to elevate their game in the Stanley Cup Final, and the chemistry is as evident as ever. That is a big difference from last year’s Final against the Panthers, where Draisaitl failed to register a single goal in seven games.

With the series knotted at 1-1 heading into Game 3, both McDavid and Draisaitl will have to continue to play at the top of their game if they want to exact revenge for last year’s loss. If they can stay healthy, there is no reason to doubt that they can do it.
