The Edmonton Oilers are headed to the playoffs, but Mattias Ekholm might not be joining them.
Ekholm returned to the lineup Friday for the first time since March 26, but played just 1:52 before exiting the game. The 34-year-old Oilers blueliner is injured again after he appeared to get tangled up with a San Jose Sharks player.
Let's hope this isn't too serious for Mattias Ekholm, who left the game early in the first period.

The injury is serious, per TSN’s Ryan Rishaud. It may even be bad enough to end his season.
Tough news for Oilers and Ekholm. Hearing there are further tests to be done, but itās believed to be a serious injury that worst case scenario may end his season, best case scenario will keep him sidelined for quite some time.

Just three games remain in the regular season, before likely another Edmonton playoff matchup against the Los Angeles Kings. The Oilers clinched a playoff spot Friday at Rogers Place when they beat the Sharks 4-2.
