After welcoming a baby girl into the world last month, Evander Kane and fiancée Mara Teigen finally got to bring their bundle of joy home.

The Edmonton Oilers winger announced on Instagram that baby Penelope came home with the couple last week, following 31 days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

“Mara, it was incredible to watch your love and attention to Penelope throughout this entire process,” Kane said. “We are so thankful that she is finally home, she is having tons of fun with her siblings. Thank you to our doctors and all the NICU staff who helped allow us to bring Penelope home happy and healthy.”

“Our sweet strong girl came home after four weeks in the NICU,” Teigan added. “Thank you for teaching me a version of strength and patience that I didn’t know I had. Thank you to my love [Evander Kane] for being my rock through all of this and taking care of our other precious little ones so I could be in the hospital. I have waited my whole life for you, Penelope. We all feel so complete.”

Evander and Mara announced their engagement last September. Penelope is the couple’s third child, joining two older brothers. Kane also has another daughter from a previous relationship.

Oilers fans are eagerly awaiting Kane’s return to the lineup, perhaps as soon as the start of the playoffs. The 33-year-old winger hasn’t played a game this season due to injury but took a big step towards returning last month.
