The NHL has seen flashy, neon jerseys before.
But jerseys that glow in the dark? That’s a first.
The Seattle Kraken recently announced that they will be unveiling a new, glow-in-the-dark third jersey for the 2025-26 season.

“This season, the Kraken descends deeper than ever before with the launch of our third jersey: all all-black kit forged in the shadows and illuminated by the eerie glow of bioluminescence,” the Kraken explained on the team website.
Seattle will wear this alternate jersey 12 times next season. The first time they’ll wear them will be against the New York Rangers on Saturday, Nov. 1.
āWe definitely wanted to make it bad-ass, more intense and scarier than our other jerseys,ā said Aaron Wiggan, the Kraken’s vice president of brand. āYou feel something lurks beneath the surface of the third jersey. Itās spookier, darker, heavier and gutsier.ā
āThe jersey is the highlight of an all-black kit with red accents that includes helmets, socks, pants and gloves… We’re extremely proud of how it turned out, and we can’t wait to see our players and fans in the jerseys and merchandise.ā

Seattle Seahawks legend Marshawn Lynch was involved with the Kraken and their announcement of the jersey. Suffice to say, he’s a fan.

“This here bad, like Dennis the Menace lil’ bad,” Lynch said in the clip.
“They should probably have somebody walk with this in a fashion show or something.”
The Kraken are one of six teams to unveil new jerseys this season. The Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, Chicago Blackhawks, Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes are the other five squads to either shake up or add a new jersey for the 2025-26 campaign.
