Mount Norquay is reopening to the public tomorrow

One of Alberta’s favourite mountains is reopening to the public this Friday.

Mount Norquay has announced that it will be welcoming visitors back to its slopes beginning June 19, and though the snow may be gone, there’s still plenty to do.

Most notably is the Norquay Via Ferrata tour, which the release states is a four route, guided climbing experience that is accessible to anyone who is capable of climbing up a ladder.

Groups will be led through a series of cables, ladders, and suspension bridges to rarely-seen viewpoints of Banff.

“The views are wild, and the exposure is real, but so is the safety. All you need to have is the physical ability to climb a ladder, an appreciation for the outdoors, and a spirit for adventure,” the release states.

“No climbing experience is necessary.”

Those who prefer to make a more relaxed push for the summit can do so by hopping onto the North American chairlift to ascend 7,000 feet from the comfort of their tush.

If all this mountaineering creates a hunger, Norquay is also set to reopen its retro-chic summer dining hot spot, The Cliffhouse Bistro, to provide regionally-inspired dishes and Alberta craft brews.

Those hoping to visit Mount Norquay this summer can check ticket prices, times, and more in advance on their website to limit touchpoints on-site.
