RCMP in central Alberta say they clocked a motorcyclist going more than 100 kilometres an hour over the posted speed limit while carrying a passenger.

On May 31, 2026, Red Deer RCMP initiated an investigation into criminal flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The investigation began when a video was shared on social media, which depicted a motorcycle driver fleeing from a peace officer at an extremely high rate of speed and committing numerous traffic violations.

Further investigation revealed that on May 26, 2026, the motorcycle driver was travelling along 67 St. in Red Deer, Alta. Red Deer Community Peace Officers (CPO) had locked the speed of the motorcycle on radar, revealing it was travelling 173 km/hr in a posted speed zone of 70 km/hr. The motorcycle driver was also carrying a passenger and fled from the peace officer.

As a result, Red Deer RCMP arrested a 22-year-old resident of Red Deer, charging him with flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The man was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Aug. 18, 2026.
