McDavid teaming up with McDonald's for nostalgic hockey-related promotion
Connor McDavid and the NHLPA have teamed up with McDonald’s for another hockey-related promotion.
The relationship between the Edmonton Oilers captain and the popular fast-food chain seems to be thriving these days. After renaming two Edmonton locations after McDavid following his 4 Nations Championship-winning goal last year, the two sides have come together for another collaboration.
McDavid revealed a new commercial he’s in that features the McDonald’s Star Sticks meal, which comes with an exclusive mini hockey stick from one of the NHL’s biggest stars.
“It’s exciting to team up with McDonald’s again, and this time around we’re giving fans a mini hockey experience,” said McDavid in a press release.
The Oilers superstar isn’t the only player involved in this campaign, as several NHL players have their sticks featured as part of the collection. Auston Matthews is also a part of the promo, marking the second-straight year McDavid has worked with the Toronto Maple Leafs captain for a McDonald’s campaign, after 2025’s Showdown menu.

Fans of a certain age may feel a hint of nostalgia with this new rollout, as McDonald’s did something similar in the mid-2000s.
“The NHL Star Sticks Meal is all about giving fans a chance to own a piece of the game they love – from a lineup of the NHL’s biggest stars to a burger that’s as iconic as the sport itself,” said Francesca Cardarelli, the chief marketing officer of McDonald’s Canada, in a press release.
“It’s a true celebration of hockey culture, and as the Official Hamburger of the NHL and NHLPA in Canada, we’re excited to bring this to our fans.”
Hockey fans across Canada can get their hands on these collectibles by purchasing an NHL Star Sticks meal, which includes your choice of a Hockey Hero Burger, 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, Big Mac, McVeggie, or Spicy McVeggie. Every meal also comes with an order of fries and a medium drink.
The Hockey Hero Burger is the new item on the menu associated with the campaign, and comes with three burger patties, lettuce, bacon, cheese, and a ‘mayo-like’ sauce.
