Parts of Manning Freeway closed due to police incident, EPS bomb unit on scene

Edmonton Police Service has closed off parts of the Manning Freeway after police located a vehicle with “potentially hazardous items” during a traffic stop.

According to a statement from EPS, “Northeast Division was conducting a traffic stop when they located potentially hazardous items in a vehicle. The EPS Bomb Unit has been called out to assess the items in question.”

The incident itself is taking place on Manning Drive, and Henday eastbound and westbound is currently unaffected.

Drivers that are travelling northbound Manning must exit eastbound onto the Henday, and the westbound Henday exit is closed.

In addition, drivers travelling SB Manning must exit westbound onto the Henday, and the eastbound Henday exit is closed.

The offramp from Henday westbound to go southbound onto Manning is also closed.
