All the outrageous eats coming to the KDays New Food Competition have been revealed

The heat of the summer brings along one of Edmonton’s most popular events, the annual KDays exhibition.
Each year, KDays brings along a boat-load of fun events, rides, and most importantly: a wide variety of crazy foods. Returning July 18 to 27, the event is ready for 10 days of uninterrupted, fun-filled days at the Edmonton EXPO Centre and Exhibition Grounds.
The New Food Competition is one of KDay’s most exciting events, with vendors coming in and showing off flavour combos and crazy eats you might not have gotten the chance to experience. This competition has local judges vote and award the best dish in each category: sweet, savoury, and beverage.
Last year, the winners of each category were the Deep Fried Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich from Sugar Pops for the sweet category, the Sweet Chilli Chicken Perogies from International Perogies for savoury, and the Aloha Lemonade from Family Squeezed Lemonade for beverage.
The menu for the 2025 New Food Competition has just been released, and it features 43 new and bizarre dishes for each and every member of the family.
Under the savoury category, Mr Pickle is offering Pickled Cheese Curds, their own twisted, tangy take on cheese curds, and Spicy Pickle Fries, tangy and spicy for the perfect mix. If you’re interested in something more fancy, Poutine King’s Wagyu Exquisite Poutine might be more up your alley, a luxurious twist on the Canadian classic.
Sweet dishes are in abundance. The options range from takes on the viral Dubai chocolate like Funnel Cake’s Dubai Chocolate Funnel Cake or Concessions Inc.’s Deep Fried Dubai Pistachio Chocolate Bar, to refreshing cold ice creams like Concessions Inc.’s Spicy Coconut Avocado Ice Cream in a Coconut and Summerland Soft Serve’s Cowboy Candy Mango Soft Serve.
Thirsty instead? No problem, beverages like Family Squeezed Lemonade’s Lava Flow Lemonade and Crocodile Ade Bog bucket are sure to hit the spot.
KDays attendees are welcome to vote in the New Food Competition, where they can rank up to three of their favourite vendors for the People’s Choice category. Vendors gain different amounts of points based on the rank voters give, so it is encouraged to give your favourite dishes the highest rank. Reminder, you can only vote once, so make sure your vote counts!
