City of Edmonton distributing more free face masks

The City of Edmonton is distributing 750,000 more free masks this month as part of a provincial government initiative.

Masks are available for pickup at select drive-thru restaurants, and they will soon be available at several Edmonton transit stations.

“We strongly recommend wearing a mask on transit,” said Eddie Robar, branch manager with Edmonton Transit Service. “As Edmonton continues to reopen, wearing a mask on transit has become even more important to help keep our community safe. It’s simply the right thing to do, and we need everyone’s help.”

People can request free masks from the West Edmonton Mall Transit Centre, Mill Woods Transit Centre, Northgate Transit Centre, Century Park Transit Centre, Churchill LRT Station, Clareview LRT Station, and Kingsway LRT Station.

The masks come in packages of 10 and will be available to anyone who asks between 7 am and 7 pm until supplies run out.

This latest mask distribution wave follows ETS distributing 500,000 free masks in early June.
