Jesse Puljujarvi clearly hasn’t lost the silly sense of humour that made him such a fan favourite during his time with the Edmonton Oilers.

Puljujarvi, who spent the 2025-26 season playing in Switzerland, was able to help Finland win gold at this year’s IIHF World Championship. The 28-year-old winger played a big role throughout the tournament, scoring four goals and nine points in 10 outings.

As happy as Oilers fans were to see Puljujarvi have success, they were equally heartbroken after learning that the 2016 fourth-overall selection had lost his gold medal after celebrating the win with his teammates in the Helsinki Metropolitan area.

Fret no more, Oilers fans, as the man known as Bison King in Edmonton has received a replacement medal. Even better, he broke the news in absolutely hilarious fashion.

Puljujarvi chose to reveal his replacement medal by attaching it to a fishing rod and pretending to reel it in out of a small body of water in Oulu. His contagious smile was visible throughout the entire video.

That smile could soon be on display for North American fans on a regular basis once again, as, despite being under contract to return to GenĆØve-Servette HC next season, Puljujarvi is reportedly looking to make an NHL comeback. He last appeared in the NHL during the 2024-25 season, suiting up for five games with the Florida Panthers.

That report came from David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period. Pagnotta also mentioned that Puljujarvi’s hips, which he’s had a combined three surgeries on, are no longer an issue for the 6-foot-4 winger.

Though the fun-loving Fin hasn’t panned out the way most expected when he was first drafted, it may be too soon to write off his career as an NHLer just yet.
