It’s been a rather stormy and hot week for us in Edmonton, and that streak of above-average temperatures for this time of year is about to come to an end.
Our daytime highs and overnight lows may have been above normal over the past little while; however, as we move into June, the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast seems to hint at a big weather change.
Edmonton saw its warmest day of the year so far yesterday, reaching 32.8°C, and the warmth is set to stick around for a couple more days before things start to cool down.
Today looks like a total temperature treat for us in Edmonton, with plenty of sunshine and a daytime high of 24°C.
Our hottest day over the next week comes on Saturday with a high of 28°C, but there is a chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm during the day. The overnight low for Saturday sits at 9°C with much-welcomed rain.
Sunday ushers in a cooler daytime high that lasts into the early work week, reaching 18°C and an overnight low of 8°C.
When you do the math between Saturday’s daytime high of 28°C and Sunday’s overnight low, it’s a roller coaster with a difference of 20 degrees. With how many wildfires are breaking out across the province, a little dip in the temperature will hopefully help crews tame those blazes.
