It looks like the snow and cold weather may finally be behind us, as Edmonton is forecast to see its warmest stretch of 2026 so far.
A sunny high of seven degrees today should help melt the remaining snow from last week (which had many of us rethinking our life choices) and will set the stage for what’s easily the best season in the city.
After today, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) expects double-digit highs for the rest of the week. Tuesday will reach a high of 14°C, followed by 17°C on Wednesday and climbing to a balmy 20°C on Thursday, the highest point of the week.
You may have noticed grass starting to green and buds forming on the trees, and with a forecast like this, things are sure to start moving quickly.

After Tuesday, overnight lows will stay above freezing, which means we’re getting even closer to planting season. But this is still Alberta, so we can expect at least one more frost or snowfall before the May long weekend.
Temperatures will dip slightly after Thursday, but it will be far from the spring that we’ve been dealing with so far.
