It may be spring in Edmonton but don’t be fooled; this time of year can bring snow more often than showers and the forecast this week is shaping up to be flurry-filled.
Edmonton has seen a lovely warm-up in daytime highs lately and you better enjoy them, because a decent temperature drop is in store for YEG soon.
Our daytime highs and overnight lows may be above normal over the next little while, but looking at the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, it seems like we are on the cusp of a big weather shake-up.
After soaking in sunshine on Tuesday with a daytime high of 10°C, temperatures start to drop off with a daytime high of 5°C and periods of rain or snow come Wednesday evening.
Thursday is looking to be the snowiest day of the entire week, with a high of 2°C and an overnight low of -4°C with periods of snow throughout the night.
We don’t even break above the freezing mark on Friday, with a high of -2°C and a chance of flurries returning in the evening with an overnight low of -7°C. Luckily, as we look to the upcoming weekend, temperatures start to make a bit of a rebound; however, the daytime highs forecast are a tad below normal for this time of year.
When you do the math between the daytime high of 11°C today and Friday’s overnight low, it’s a minor weather roller coaster with a temperature change of 18 degrees.
