Here's what Edmonton's weather will be like on the first day of spring

Mar 17 2021, 7:29 pm

This Saturday marks the first day of spring, and Edmonton’s weather will reflect the change of season with warm temperatures and a chance of showers.

The city has seen a very temperate month so far, and it looks as though that trend is expected to continue.

According to The Weather Network, Thursday will bring sunny skies and 12°C ahead of the first day of spring, and Friday will remain steady at 12°C with more sunshine in the forecast.

On March 20, the first official day of spring, Edmonton may see some showers, and temperatures will stay seasonable with a high of 10°C.

Things cool off a little on Sunday, at 6°C and a mix of sun and clouds, and it’ll feel more like 4°C.

Temperatures remain lower moving into next week, and Monday is only expected to reach 6°C; however, Tuesday warms up to 9°C.

Edmontonians can expect more spring showers on Wednesday, with a high of 10°C.

March tends to go either way in Edmonton, weather-wise; however, it looks we may be getting lucky this year, according to TWN’s 14-day trend. Daytime highs are predicted to stay above 4°C through the rest of March.

Edmonton may see scattered flurries on the last Saturday of the month, bringing less than one centimetre of snow to the city, but otherwise it looks like it’s smooth sailing into spring.

Make the most of the continued good weather and get outside this weekend, YEG!
