Edmonton Public Schools says Alberta Health Services identified more coronavirus cases at seven of its schools over the weekend.

Health authorities discovered one new case each at Avalon School, Jackson Heights School, Queen Elizabeth School, ME Lazerte School, Parkallen School, and Vimy Ridge School.

Queen Elizabeth, ME Lazerte, and Vimy Ridge are all on the province’s coronavirus watch list because they currently have an outbreak with five or more cases linked to the school.

Two new cases were also discovered at Steinhauer School. That school is also on the province’s list of schools with an active outbreak, but there are four or fewer cases linked to the institution.

Across Edmonton, 47 schools are dealing with coronavirus outbreaks and 12 of them are under “watch” status.

For each person at a school that tests positive, all their close contacts have to self-isolate. Hundreds of students across the city are currently isolating at home.
