Edmonton Oilers fans shouldn’t rule out Connor Ingram returning to the crease for the 2026-27 season.
Ingram was acquired by the Oilers from the Utah Mammoth ahead of the 2025-26 season and wound up making 32 regular-season appearances, along with another five starts in the playoffs. In his 32 regular-season appearances, he put up a 2.60 GAA paired with a .899 SV%.
Ingram was, for the most part, solid in his first season with the Oilers. That said, few envisioned the pending UFA to return, believing that management would instead seek to make an upgrade between the pipes to work in tandem with Tristan Jarry.
That has changed following a report from Sportsnet’s Mark Spector on Wednesday morning.
“Sounds like Connor Ingram is bullish on re-signing with Edmonton, though negotiations are ongoing,” Spector wrote on X. “Babock doesn’t affect his decision. Loved his time there – not swayed by new coach.”

Spector did go on to say that GM Stan Bowman is looking at plenty of goalie options, meaning that an Ingram extension is no guarantee. At the very least, however, management does appear to be considering it.
Other goalies the Oilers have been linked to include Sebastian Cossa, Filip Gustavsson, and even free agent Sergei Bobrovsky.
The issue for Edmonton, particularly when it comes to Gustavsson and Bobrovsky, is that they don’t have a ton of cap space to bring either in. Following extensions to Connor Murphy and Jason Dickinson, the Oilers have just $7.4 million left to spend. They also have two pending RFAs in Colton Dach and Spencer Stastney, along with five other pending UFAs in Jack Roslovic, Adam Henrique, Kasperi Kapanen, Curtis Lazar, and Max Jones.
That limited cap space is likely playing a big part in why the Oilers are considering running it back with Ingram. AFP Analytics projects the 29-year-old to sign a two-year deal with an average annual value of roughly $3 million.
