Former Edmonton Oilers forward Jesse Puljujarvi is heading overseas for the 2025-26 season and beyond.

The 27-year-old has officially signed a two-year contract with Genève-Servette HC in Switzerland. The club announced the signing early this morning.

Puljujarvi spent the majority of the 2024-25 campaign in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, where he was able to help them advance to the Calder Cup Final. In 18 playoff outings, he scored three goals and 11 points. He was also able to suit up for five regular-season games with the Florida Panthers, scoring a lone goal.

The Oilers selected Puljujarvi fourth overall in the 2016 draft, and he wound up playing 317 games in Edmonton. His best season came in 2021-22, when he scored 14 goals and a career-high 36 points in 65 games.

Though the on-ice results weren’t what you would expect from a fourth overall pick, Puljujarvi was beloved in Edmonton thanks to his seemingly infectious personality. Edmonton fans continue to know the Finnish forward as the “Bison King” thanks to a hilarious picture he took with a bison back in 2021.

Despite having all the tools, including size at 6-foot-4, Puljujarvi was never able to put it all together at the NHL level. Should this be it for his NHL career, he will have ended it having played 387 games in stints with the Oilers, Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes, and Pittsburgh Penguins. During that span, he racked up 58 goals and 128 points.
