Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid was all smiles when speaking about the latest McDonald’s rebrand.
As many are aware, McDonald’s recently renamed two locations â one in Edmonton and the other in Newmarket â to “McDavid’s.” The change will remain in place until the end of this week, paying homage to the Oilers captain for his game-winning goal versus the U.S. in the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Many hockey fans love the idea, and the 28-year-old seems to be a big fan of it himself.
“Yeah, pretty cool,” said a grinning McDavid. “It’s pretty funny. A lot of my good buddies in high school worked at that McDonald’s back home. They all had a good laugh at that.”

McDonald’s originally announced its plan to rebrand an Edmonton location to “McDavid’s” in June, had the Oilers won the Stanley Cup. That failed to happen, but the 4 Nations victory proved to be a great opportunity to deliver on the original promise.

For a brief period of time, the Newmarket location was selling its World Famous Fries for just $0.97, though that deal has since ended. Fans at both locations, along with all other McDonald’s throughout Canada, can still order the “Big Mac-David” burger, as well as the “Smoky Quarter Papi.” Both items come from another partnership with McDavid and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews.
