Edmonton Oilers lock into new 10-year deal with Rogers
The Edmonton Oilers will be playing out of Rogers Place for at least the next 10 years thanks to a new deal.
The Oilers were never considering moving out of the building, which opened its doors for the 2016-17 season. That said, there was the possibility of a name change given that the Oilers organization and Rogers had agreed to a 10-year strategic partnership shortly before the building opened.
Any possibility of a name change in the near future was put to rest on Tuesday, however, as Rogers announced a new 10-year deal with the Oilers to ensure the building will continue to be called Rogers Place through 2036.
“For the past decade, Rogers has shared our commitment to supporting and connecting communities across Oil Country and creating exceptional experiences for Oilers fans — both at Rogers Place and through the Sportsnet broadcast,” said OEG Sports & Entertainment CEO Hugh Weber. “As we celebrate 10 years of Rogers Place and ICE District, this long-term extension is a testament to the strength of our partnership, and we’re excited about what we can create for Oilers fans over the next decade.”
Though the building is set to enter its tenth NHL season in 2026-27, it remains a state-of-the-art facility and is widely regarded as one of the best arenas in the league. The arena’s quality status played a big part in Edmonton being named as one of three host cities for the upcoming 2028 World Cup of Hockey.
That announcement ensures that there will be plenty of great hockey continuing to take place at Rogers Place. The Oilers have become a true Stanley Cup contender in that building, including two runs to the Final in both 2024 and 2025.
Though the Oilers disappointed this past season, expectations are very high surrounding this group entering the 2026-27 campaign, giving their fan base plenty of optimism that this could finally be the season we see this team win it all — perhaps even at Rogers Place.
