The Edmonton sports media landscape has seen yet another big change.

Months after suddenly leaving The Athletic, highly respected Edmonton Oilers beat writer Daniel Nugent-Bowman has finally revealed his new job. The good news for Oilers fans is that DNB will remain in sports, but it doesn’t appear he will be following the local NHL beat anymore.

The veteran sports writer took to social media on Monday to announce that he has become the managing editor of SportsCage.com, a website focused primarily on Saskatchewan sports.

Today marks my first day as the managing editor of sports for SportsCage.com,” Nugent-Bowman revealed. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to oversee their already excellent coverage.

“I’ll continue to be based in Edmonton, but I’m thrilled to have strong ties to Saskatchewan once again.”

Nugent-Bowman spent eight years working for The Athletic on the Oilers beat. Throughout that time, he garnered a reputation as one of the most respected Oilers reporters in the city, making his sudden exit a massive shock to both fans and fellow reporters.

Before coming to Edmonton, however, Nugent-Bowman built up his craft working as a sports reporter for the Saskatchewan StarPhoenix. There, he focused on covering the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades, as well as junior football.

This new gig at SportsCage.com will seemingly get Nugent-Bowman back to those Saskatchewan roots, as the website seems to have a heavy focus on the province’s three WHL teams, as well as the CFL’s Roughriders.

Nugent-Bowman’s announcement is just the latest in what has been one of the busiest weeks for the Edmonton sports media scene in recent memory. Just last week, it was announced that longtime sports anchor and morning radio host Kevin Karius would be retiring, only to be replaced by Tom Gazzola.

With the summer just getting started, who knows what other changes could be on the horizon?
