More housing is on the way for downtown Edmonton, with an office building near the Alberta Legislature being converted into more residential units.

The Alberta Major Projects site notes that 100 House, located in the Financial Building at 10621 100 Ave. NW, is in the middle of its second phase of office-to-residential conversion. A building permit was issued by the City of Edmonton on July 18 to create 33 additional residential units.

This will include seven on the main floor, 13 on the fourth floor, and 14 on the fifth floor. Construction is currently underway and is expected to be completed in 2026.

The previous phase saw the top six floors of the building converted into 78 residential units. Existing suites include studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units.

According to the rental website, units feature open layouts with amenities including in-suite laundry, air conditioning, and access to secured underground parking and bike storage.

Residents also have use of approximately 2,200 square feet of shared amenities, including a lounge with a kitchen and billiards area, as well as a 24-hour fitness room. The building is pet-friendly and includes a dog wash and run.

Edmonton is one of Canada’s most affordable cities to live in, and with more housing on the way, hopefully we can keep it that way!
