As we look ahead to the warm and sunny days of summer in Edmonton, we’re daydreaming of moving to one of the many neighbourhoods that offer the perfect blend of charm, convenience, and community.

From bustling urban locations to tranquil but charming spots in the suburbs, here are 10 Edmonton neighbourhoods we’d like to move to this summer.

Ritchie

With spots like Ritchie Market and Happy Beer Street only continuing to blossom, it looks to be another great summer for the charming inner-city community of Ritchie. This neighbourhood is full of schools, tree-lined streets, historic homes, and just enough density to feel lively. On top of that, its close access to shopping and transit is a bonus.

We love the charming, historic homes and tight-knit community feel of Alberta Avenue. Plus, its proximity to festivals like Deep Freeze and the Kaliedo Family Arts Festival is a bonus. With so many great restaurants, cafes, and community projects, we’d love to call it home this summer!

Located in southwest Edmonton, Terwillegar is far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city centre while offering everything you need, from shops to rec centres to libraries. It also has easy access to Terwillegar Park and the Whitemud Creek Ravine. Plus, once construction on Terwillegar Drive is complete, it’ll be easier than ever to access this fantastic neighbourhood.

Highlands

Highlands is a unique part of Edmonton and one neighbourhood we’d love to move to this summer. It has so much charm, with its historic buildings, easy access to the river valley, and beautiful homes like the Magrath Mansion. The tree-lined streets make it feel extra cozy, and there are so many great local restaurants and shops to explore.

We love to get outdoors as much as possible in the summer, which is why we have our eye on Forest Heights. As the name implies, there is plenty of tree cover with easy access to the River Valley around these parts, and we love the look of that gorgeous tree canopy over the cozy homes of this community.

Griesbach is a unique and vibrant neighbourhood in Edmonton, known for its historic location, community-focused development, and gorgeous green spaces. It’s close enough to the city centre so that you can easily access everything you need, yet far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet without feeling like you’re stuck in a bland suburb.

Located just to the west of downtown is the lively and vibrant community of wîhkwêntôwin. With a densely populated area and many high-rise residential buildings, this neighbourhood is within walking distance of shopping, dining, and stunning river valley views along the Victoria Promenade.

Riverdale

Riverdale is a gorgeous neighbourhood along the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, with a cozy, secluded feel. It’s the perfect spot to take in the beauty of the river valley and enjoy a cup of coffee. We’d love to call it home this summer!

Laurier Heights

You can bet you’ll have a lovely summer stroll around Laurier Heights. The neighbourhood has fantastic river valley trails, beautiful views of downtown, and streets lined with impressive homes. You might even bump into an Oiler along the way, or bring the pooch and spend some time at the dog park in Buena Vista Park. Either way, it just feels good to get outside and enjoy it.

Lastly, with its tree-lined streets, historic homes, and beautiful architecture at the nearby University of Alberta, Garneau easily rounds up our list of neighbourhoods we’d love to move to. We’re big fans of Garneau for all its walkability, proximity to the Metro Cinema and the fact that it is home to one of our favourite pizza spots in Edmonton.
