A number of road closures in Edmonton could affect your travel this weekend

The 2025 Servus Edmonton Marathon is set for this Sunday, Aug. 17, bringing a number of road closures that could affect your travel through the city this weekend.
The City of Edmonton says to expect major traffic delays, road closures and transit detours, especially downtown, as runners make their way through city streets.
Setup starts on Saturday, Aug. 16, with Jasper Avenue completely closed between 99th Street and 95th Street.
On race day, Jasper Avenue will be shut down from 99th Street to 124th Street, with a single eastbound lane open between 124th Street and 119th Street for local traffic only.
124th Street will also be closed from Jasper Avenue to 102nd Avenue, and 102nd Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 124th Street and 138th Street. Drivers will only be able to access streets on the south side of 102nd Avenue when there’s space between race participants.
The marathon will also mean detours for several ETS routes. On Sunday, Route 101 will be detouring from 5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., while Routes 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, 110X, 511, 701, 900X and 901 will detour from 5 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Routes 2, 5, 111 and 900X will have extra detours for setup and teardown — from 5 a.m. on Aug. 16 to 5 a.m. on Aug. 17, and again from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 17.
There will be no north-south traffic on Jasper Avenue between 109th Street and 116th Street during the race, and some bus stops will be closed.
The city suggests planning ahead, giving yourself extra time and using the Capital Line, Metro Line or Valley Line Southeast LRT to get around. Full detour and bus stop closure details are on the City of Edmonton website.
