Officials investigating house fire that caused $250,000 in damages

An investigation is underway into an Edmonton house fire that took place late Monday evening on Griesbach Road.

According to Edmonton Fire and Rescue, on Monday, March 23, 2020, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services received a call reporting a fire at 203 Griesbach Road at 11:16 pm.

The fire was at a single-family home under construction, and EFRS says that there were no occupants and no reported injuries.

“Five crews were dispatched, arriving on-scene at 11:20 pm to a working fire,” a statement from an EFRS spokesperson said. “The fire was brought under control at 12:17 am (Tuesday, March 24) and completely extinguished by 6:29 am.”

As of Wednesday morning, EFRS says that Edmonton Police Services has been notified of the event.

“Investigators estimate the total damage at $250,000,” the spokesperson said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
