North America's largest fringe festival returns to Edmonton next month

Jul 30 2025, 6:40 pm

The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival is right around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited to check out everything this year has to offer.

Over 200 theatre productions from across Alberta, Canada, and the world are coming to Edmonton from Aug. 4 to 14.

North America’s largest, longest-running Fringe Theatre Festival will feature electric performances, ice-cold beer and green-onion cakes, and more.

Tickets for Edmonton Fringe go on sale Wednesday, Aug. 6, and the best part is that Edmonton Fringe shows are great for those on a budget.

Fringe Festival guides are also on sale now at Fringe Theatre Arts Barns and several local retailers.

There’s no one way to fringe,” said organizers to Daily Hive. “Once you’re here, you can’t go wrong. Fringing is about escaping into the unknown and taking creative risks.

“No matter how you fringe, one thing is for certain: Fringe is for you because fringing is for everyone.”

There are 223 theatre productions to choose from at 40 venues across Edmonton, featuring performances by over 1,600 artists.

This year’s festival theme is “A Fringe Full Of Stars,” with shows ranging from sexy puppet shows to original musicals and even a one-man retelling of Ghostbusters.

Fans of improv theatre, clown, drag, storytelling and more will find lots to choose from at this year’s fringe, with tickets ranging in price from just $9 to $20.

Edmonton Fringe artists set their own price, with 100 per cent of sales going directly to them. Fringe Theatre is a charitable organization, and charges a nominal service fee of up to $3 per ticket to help keep the Festival running.

There is also the pĂŞhonân series, which will uplift Indigenous artists and stories local to Treaty 6 and the MĂ©tis homeland, and the highly anticipated Late Night Cabaret, packed with wild antics and surprises. Make sure to pick up your tickets before they’re gone.

Children are welcome to join the fun with KidsFringe, free activities that are perfect for kids ages 12 and under and their caregivers. And those who want to take in the best in local and touring musical talent while enjoying a cool Sea Change brew are invited to head to ATB Park for the music series.

“Fringe is by and for the community,” added the Edmonton Fringe. “There’s no better way to connect in creative celebration than through free events like our Music Series or KidsFringe.

“Whether you’re dancing under the stars in ATB Park to an electrifying local music act or creating memories with your littlest fringer as part of our free family-friendly programming at KidsFringe, fringing is for everyone.”
