
It’s been a chilly week here in Edmonton, but our shivering will be done shortly with a nice rise in the temperature forecast for the city soon.
According to the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, the weather in Edmonton is well below average for today, Dec. 27; however, the thermometer will start to rise as we roll towards next week.
Edmonton is forecast to reach a high of -19°C today, with an overnight low of -26°C, with snow and blowing snow on tap. Daytime highs are on the rebound come tomorrow, with Sunday, Dec. 28, forecast to see a high of -7°C and increasing cloudiness.
We start the week entering above-zero territory, with Monday, Dec. 29 at 4°C, Tuesday, Dec. 30 at zero, and a decent New Year’s Eve is in the cards with a daytime high of -3°C.
When you do the math between tonight’s overnight low and the daytime high on Monday, it’s a temperature change of 30 degrees.
You’d better get out and enjoy the warmer temperatures while they last. New Year’s Day in Edmonton is looking like temperatures will start to see a dip yet again, with a high of -14°C, and Friday, Jan. 2, is looking even brisker with a high of -16°C.
It’s also shaping up to be a snowy end to 2025 and start to 2026, with a run of snow from New Year’s Eve straight to Friday, Jan. 2. Keep those snow shovels handy!
