Edmonton has seen a snowy temperature drop this week, but we are nearing the end of this baby cold snap with a huge temperature change on the way.
Our daytime highs and overnight lows may have been below normal over the past while, but looking at the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, it seems like we are on the cusp of a big weather shake-up.
Before we dive into what balmy temperatures are coming our way, we just have to make it through the weekend and the start of next week. Hang in there!
As of 10 a.m. today, Edmonton is under a snowfall warning and is set to reach a daytime high of -2°C, with an overnight low of -13°C.
As we approach the weekend, the overnight low tomorrow is a brisk -21°C, with daytime highs for Saturday and Sunday still below normal for this time of year.
Once we arrive at Tuesday, the warmth set to invade our city starts to make its presence known with a daytime high of zero, and Wednesday looks even better, holding a daytime high of 6°C.
When you do the math between the overnight low of -21°C on Friday night and Wednesday’s daytime high, it’s a roller coaster with a temperature change of 27 degrees. Fingers crossed that the warmer temperatures stick around and we are done with brisk cold snaps as we inch closer towards the official start to spring!
