27 more deaths in Ontario as known coronavirus cases rise to 3,630

Ontario reported 375 more test-positive cases of COVID-19 Saturday morning, bringing the total number of known cases in the province to 3,630.

The province also announced 27 more deaths due to the virus, increasing Ontario’s death toll to 94.

Now, the province says 1,219 people have recovered from the virus, meaning there are only 2,411 active infections in Ontario.

The known patients are a fairly even split of men (48%) and women (51%), and patients aged 40-59 represent the largest cohort of known infections.

The majority of cases (51.9%) are in the Greater Toronto Area public health region.

The province also provided the following data about how the coronavirus patients caught the virus:

  • 21.3% travelled recently
  • 12.% had close contact with another confirmed case
  • 17.9% are confirmed community spread (no travel or known contact with a confirmed case)
  • 48.4% have information pending

Thirty-six long term care homes in the province are currently dealing with outbreaks, the government says.
