Edmonton Public Schools announced Wednesday that several more individuals have tested positive, meaning more than a hundred students and staff need to self-isolate.

Two more people at Centre High have contracted coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases at the school to three. Edmonton Public Schools says the three cases are not related, so an outbreak has not been declared at the school.

Centre High’s student population is mostly adult learners looking to upgrade their courses before college or university. Four staff members and 128 students at the school need to isolate at home for 14 days after being in contact with one of the infected individuals.

The third new case was at Lillian Osborne, where two staff members and 58 students mostly in Grade 12 need to stay home for two weeks.

The fourth and final new case announced Wednesday was at Eastglen. Two staff members and 31 students in Grade 11 need to self-isolate from that school.

“All schools will be contacting students and families to arrange supports for learning while they are required to isolate at home,” the district said in a statement. “At this time, we do not have more information about what these learning supports may entail.”
