New coronavirus cases discovered at 13 Edmonton public schools

New coronavirus cases have been discovered at 13 of Edmonton’s public schools in the past few days.

In a news release Wednesday, the board itemized the most recent new cases discovered in schools between October 5 and October 7. These new cases are in addition to the infections at 10 other schools announced on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, one individual from each of the following schools tested positive: Jasper Place School, Vernon Barford School, Centre High Campus,  Londonderry School, Dr. Donald Massey School, and John D. Bracco School. Two individuals from M.E. LaZerte School tested positive.

On Tuesday, each of the following schools reported one new coronavirus case: J. Percy Page School, Strathcona School, Queen Elizabeth School, Fraser School, Mee-Yah-Noh School, and Evansdale School.

on Monday, one person from Killarney School also tested positive.

The close contacts of each person infected need to self-isolate, and will be contacted directly by Alberta Health Services. The district has said previously that students who need to stay home will receive learning supports.
