One of Edmonton’s longest-running restaurants is shutting down one of its original locations.

Continental Treat Fine Bistro focuses on serving traditional European Cuisine with a modern twist at two locations in the city, downtown and Whyte Avenue. The homey establishment is family-owned and has been operating in the city since 1982.

On Aug. 16, the team behind the bistro announced on social media that it would be closing the doors to its Whyte Avenue location.

After 43 years, the Continental Treat Fine Bistro is moving on from its Whyte Avenue location.

However, the Borowka family is still committed to carrying on their third-generation legacy. Now, Continental Treat Fine Bistro’s only location sits downtown off of Jasper Avenue, in the heart of the city.

“Our entire Continental Treat team is excited to continue the legacy with you downtown — including our Executive Head Chef, Elizabeth Palmowski, who has been with us through many ups and downs and continues to bring her heart, creativity, and excellence to every plate,” says the team on Instagram.

Its Jasper Avenue location is open daily, and the team is committed to serving the same delicious food, warm hospitality, and romantic atmosphere.

“We are deeply grateful for your understanding and continued support as we turn this page and carry on the tradition in our new chapter,” the team says. “From our family to yours — thank you for being part of our story.”
