Edmonton police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an alleged child abduction and sexual assault.

According to police, an eight-year-old girl was walking home around 5:30 pm on Tuesday, March 10 in west Edmonton when a man pulled her into his vehicle. The man allegedly sexually assaulted the girl, and later dropped her off nearby.

The incident happened near 144 Street and 110 Avenue.

The girl’s parents were looking for her, and when she got home she told them what happened right away. The parents called police, and paramedics took the girl to hospital for treatment.

Police don’t believe the suspect and child knew each other. They’re still trying to track him down and are asking anyone with security or dashcam footage in the McQueen area to contact them.

The suspect was driving a white four-door mid-sized car or SUV. He is described as light-skinned with brown hair and facial hair. He’s thought to be in his late 20s or 30s, and he was wearing light brown pants at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
