Charles Barkley was happy to see the Edmonton Oilers advance to the Western Conference Final on Wednesday night.
The TNT analyst was on air, breaking down NBA highlights at the exact time Kasperi Kapanen netted the overtime winner that gave the Oilers a 4-1 series victory over the Vegas Golden Knights. Barkley, who picked the Oilers to win the Stanley Cup prior to the playoffs kicking off, couldn’t hide his excitement and interrupted the highlight pack in hilarious fashion.

“Edmonton won! Woooo! We scored in overtime,” Barkley screamed while his coworkers were looking back at Game 5 highlights between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks. “I told y’all. The Edmonton Oilers are going to win the Stanley Cup! We’re going to stick it to y’all for trying to ramp them damn tariffs on us! We’re taking the Cup back to Canada.”

Barkley appeared to be in trouble early in the postseason, as the Oilers trailed the Kings 2-0 in their first-round series. The 11-time NBA All Star was very nervous at the time, stating, “I’m in big trouble right now.”
Thankfully for Barkley and many Oilers fans, the team stormed back with four straight wins in that series and then made rather quick work of the Golden Knights. The 62-year-old and the rest of the Oilers nation will now eagerly await whether they will face the Dallas Stars or the Winnipeg Jets in the Western Conference Final.
This marked the second year in a row in which Barkley picked the Oilers to win the Stanley Cup. Shortly after doing so a year ago, he received a Leon Draisaitl jersey while on the panel.
“Oh my goodness! Leon Draisaitl, thank you,” Barkley exclaimed. “Hey Leon, I donāt know if you saw my brackets. I got yāall winning the Stanley Cup.ā
While there is still plenty of work to be done, the Oilers are firing on all cylinders right now and are as good a bet as any to win their first Stanley Cup since 1990.
