Castle Downs Road at 162 Avenue has reopened after being closed in all directions after a 12-year-old boy was struck by a school bus earlier this morning.

According to Edmonton Police Service, at approximately 8:30 am this morning, police responded to the report of a collision involving a school bus and pedestrian.

Upon arrival, police located a 12-year-old boy who had been struck by a school bus.

“Investigators believe the youth was travelling eastbound across Castle Downs Road NW (at 162 Avenue) when he was struck by a bus turning left onto Castle Downs Road (from Beaumaris Road)” said a statement from an EPS spokesperson.

According to police, a second bus attended the scene to transport youth who were onboard the bus involved in the collision to their respective school(s), and the youth was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The boy’s parents have reportedly been notified of the incident, and police say the youth’s condition remains unchanged and no charges have been laid at this time.
