'Canada's largest pickleball facility' is being built near Edmonton
Grab your paddle and get ready to hit the court, because a massive new pickleball facility is in the works for a town 30 minutes west of Edmonton.
Stony Plain is about to become home to what’s being billed as “Canada’s largest pickleball facility,” with a whopping combined 42 indoor/outdoor courts.

The Parkland Pickleheads pickleball club says it’s building 24 of the facility’s 28 outdoor courts in the town’s North Park area, alongside a 14-court indoor facility.
The project broke ground in July 2025 and is a partnership between the club and RJ Enterprises.
Stony Plain Land Inc. built four outdoor courts and is building the indoor facility. The Alberta government and the City of Spruce Grove have provided financial support for the project.
Construction is currently underway. The outdoor courts are 90 per cent complete, while work on the indoor courts is further behind.
As for when pickleballers can hit the courts, the Parkland Pickleheads confirmed to Daily Hive that the combined 42-court facility is expected to open in April 2027.
