A spot in Alberta just got a big shoutout from National Geographic, all thanks to its magnificent stargazing opportunities.
The renowned nonprofit organization rounded up its list of bestĀ stargazing sites in North America, from dark sky sanctuaries, reserves, parks, and trails.

National Geographic pointed to Jasper National Park’s designation as a Dark Sky Preserve by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, one of 17 in the country, with the town even residing within the preserveās limits.
Every October, the Town of Jasper hosts the annual Jasper Dark Sky Festival to celebrate its designation and to come together in appreciating the stunning night sky.
Even after October is over, the nighttime views from the preserve are nothing short of remarkable, attracting visitors from all over the world to get a glimpse of the northern sights.
It’s been a banner year for the spotlight being placed on Alberta. Just this month, two spots in the province were named the most beautiful places in Canada, and last month, an Alberta town was named one of the best places to visit in Canada.
