A music festival south of Edmonton says it won’t be returning for 2027.

The Beaumont Music Festival announced on Thursday that it made the decision after “much reflection and difficult conversations,” citing the lasting impacts of this summer’s extreme weather.

“As many of you know, the extreme weather that forced us to cancel the second day of our 2026 festival left our volunteer-run organization facing significant challenges. While the decision was necessary for everyone’s safety, the impact has been far-reaching,” the festival said in a statement.

On July 20, a storm passed through the festival grounds, causing flooding and damage and forcing organizers to cancel the second day of the event.

Recovery from the storm, combined with lower ticket sales, additional infrastructure expenses, and weather-related costs, left the 2026 festival with a deficit of just under $107,000.

“We are deeply grateful for their patience, understanding, and continued support as we work through this difficult time.”

The Beaumont Music Festival has been running since 2008.

While the 2027 festival won’t go ahead, organizers say it isn’t necessarily the end.

The festival board plans to take the time to regroup, rebuild, and work toward a sustainable future while exploring fundraising opportunities.

“This isn’t goodbye. It’s a chance to find our footing, honour what we’ve built together, and look toward what comes next,” the festival said.

The festival has also started a GoFundMe to help with its recovery.
