Alberta's new daily coronavirus cases edge upwards

Sep 4 2020, 10:11 pm

Alberta reported 164 new coronavirus cases on Friday, marking the ninth straight day the province has recorded more than 100 new cases per day.

Friday’s new case count is more than Thursday’s 130 and Wednesday’s 114.

No new deaths were reported Friday, leaving Alberta’s coronavirus death toll at 242.

“This is not the time to let our guard down,” Dr. Deena Hinshaw said at Thursday’s press briefing, where she spoke of the need to stay home when sick this fall and winter.

Since the pandemic began, more than 14,000 Albertans have caught the virus. The majority of them, about 12,800, have recovered from their infections.
