Alberta Energy Rebate applicants are quickly approaching the one-million mark, with nearly 930,000 Albertans now set to receive the payment just weeks after applications opened.

According to the Province, as of Friday, July 24, 2026, around 930,000 Albertans have either applied for the rebate or been automatically enrolled through existing government benefit programs, and 83 per cent have already received their $100 payment.

“Alberta’s government said we’d put more money back in Albertans’ pockets, and that’s exactly what this rebate is doing,” said Jason Nixon, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance, in a statement to Daily Hive.

“That’s real money, back in Albertans’ pockets, fast. We’ve still got ten weeks to go, and this is a strong start,” he continued.

Alberta Energy Rebate applications opened on July 1, 2026. Alberta residents who are 18 or older, have filed a 2025 tax return, and have a household income of $225,000 or less are eligible to apply for the Energy Rebate through a secure online portal.

Payments are delivered by e-transfer directly to Albertans’ bank accounts or by email within about 14 days of applying, and by July 14, the total number of Albertans expected to receive the rebate was just about 755,000.

The rebate has previously faced some technical challenges, with some Albertans reporting issues accessing the application portal and completing the payment verification process.

Applications remain open until Sept. 30, 2026. More information about the program and application process can be found online or by calling the following toll-free numbers for assistance:
