Alberta spot named one of the best places in the world to ski in 2026

Winter is quickly approaching in Alberta, and one spot in the province was just named one of the best places in the world to ski in 2026.

Conde Nast Traveller just released its roundup of the best spots to ski, and only one spot in Canada nabbed a mention.

If you’re an avid skier in Alberta, it likely won’t be a surprise to hear that Banff made the cut, landing among the likes of Niseko, Japan, and Chamonix, France.

The British travel publication noted that a visit to Banff is an “ideal trip for adventurous families, powder-seeking intermediates, and those who want a little bit of rejuvenation in their après.”

A big draw was the three major ski resorts surrounding Banff — Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village, and Lake Louise — which “delivers Canada’s most compelling alpine trifecta.”

As for when is the best time to enjoy the slopes on the ski hills that surround Banff, the often bitterly cold months of January through March are known to bring the “lightest, driest powder and quieter trails.”

Banff itself is no stranger to the spotlight. It has a pretty impressive track record, being named one of the most picturesque places in the world earlier this year, and also recognized as one of the most beautiful places in the world by Architectural Digest.

If you do make it out to Banff this ski season, try and book a stay at an iconic hotel that was just named one of the best in North America.
