A man from Richmond, BC, didn’t trust the self-scanner at the gas station at first when it declared his ticket a winner in the Lotto Max draw.
Wing Chiu Yu thought his eyes were deceiving him and checked the ticket a second time before it sunk in.
“I didn’t believe it,” Yu said in a news release from BCLC.

His ticket won him $500,000 in the June 6 Lotto Max draw — he’s splitting a $1 million Maxmillions prize with another player in Ontario.
At first, Yu kept his big win a secret, but now that he’s claimed the prize, it’s out in the open.
He’s still taking some time to decide how he’ll spend the prize money, adding he’s “surprised” by the win.
Yu purchased the winning ticket at a 7-Eleven inside an Esso gas station at No.1 and Blundell roads in Richmond.
