Toyota recalling over 32,000 vehicles across Canada
Toyota has issued a new recall in Canada, citing safety concerns that a defect could increase the risk of a crash.
In a statement first posted on Oct. 1, Transport Canada said that 32,733 Toyota vehicles are affected by a nationwide recall due to an issue with the visual system.
“Under certain conditions, a problem with the rearview camera could cause the rearview camera image not to display correctly or at all,” states the recall. “Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing.”

According to Transport Canada, a malfunctioning rearview camera image that fails to display correctly could reduce a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up.
“This could increase the risk of a crash,” reads the statement.
The recall impacts two types of Toyota vehicles: the Sequoia and Tundra. Sequoia vehicles from 2023 to 2025, along with Tundra vehicles from 2022 to 2025, are included. However, it only affects vehicles equipped with a 14-inch multimedia display. This also applies to Tundra and Tundra hybrid models.
To address this safety issue, Toyota will notify owners in writing. Meanwhile, owners are being asked to take their vehicle to a dealership to update the multimedia display software.

The VIN is a unique 17-digit alphanumeric identifier, specific to your vehicle. The code provides information on where your vehicle was manufactured, its model, and additional details.
Your VIN can be found on your proof of insurance documents and vehicle registration. You can also find it on a metal plate in the corner of your dashboard on the driver’s side, and the information label affixed to the door pillar when the driver’s door is open.
