Popular brand of chicken burgers recalled in Canada for a second time this month
You might want to rethink dinner plans tonight. For a second time this month, a popular brand of chicken product has been recalled across Canada.
On Monday, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) published a notice announcing that the Compliments brand Smashed 100% Chicken Burgers have been recalled due to undeclared egg.
Compliments is a popular brand sold at various grocery stores across Canada, including Sobeys, FreshCo, Foodland, and Safeway.
“Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product,” the notice reads.

Earlier this month on Aug. 7, the CFIA issued the first recall for Compliments Smashed 100% Chicken Burgers, which only involved packages with a certain universal product code, best before date and lot number.
Now, “all codes where egg is not declared on the label” are affected by the latest recall, though the CFIA doesn’t state any reported reactions associated with the burgers.
The recall has been assigned as a class two, which means that “there is a moderate risk that consuming the food may lead to short-term or non-life-threatening health problems.” If you’ve been affected by the recall, you can file a report with the Government of Canada.
