Peloton users are being advised to check if their model is part of a massive recall in Canada.

Health Canada issued a recall alert for a specific model of the popular exercise bike on Thursday, Nov. 6. It involves certain seat posts on Peloton Original Series Bike+ units.

Peloton reported approximately 44,800 affected bikes were sold in Canada, and approximately 833,000 were sold in the United States. The impacted products were sold from 2020 through April 2025.

According to the agency, the bike model’s seat post assembly can break while in use, posing fall and injury hazards to the user. Riders who are taller than 5’10” (177 c.m.) and above 250 pounds (114 kg) have experienced this issue.

As of Nov. 6, Peloton has received no reported incidents of injury in Canada. However, in the U.S., there have been three reports of seat posts breaking during use.

You can check if your bike was affected by checking the model number, which appears on the inside of the front fork, behind the front fork, or behind the flywheel. The impacted bikes have the model number PL02 and serial numbers beginning with the letter “T.”

The bike measures four feet long by two feet wide and has an adjustable handlebar. Information to help locate your Bike+ serial number can be found on the company’s site.

If your bike is part of the recall, don’t worry about having to spend extra to pay for a replacement.

“Consumers should stop using the recalled exercise bikes and contact Peloton for a free replacement seat post that can be self-installed using the self-installation instructions provided by Peloton,” stated Health Canada.

Canadians can order a free replacement on the Peloton site. You can also reach out to the company by phone toll-free at (833) 821-0099 from 6 a.m. to midnight EST, seven days a week.
