Canadians can visit any national park for FREE this summer

Canadians who want to make the most of our short summers will be able to take advantage of the great outdoors with Parks Canada.

The government agency is offering free admission to all 37 of the national parks it manages from June 20 to Sept. 2, 2025.

All visitors, regardless of whether they’re Canadian, will receive free admission to all national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas operated by Parks Canada.

In addition, no fees will apply for lockage at canals administered by the agency on historic waterways.

Canadians won’t need to worry about getting an entry pass or ticket to take advantage of this perk — all they’ll need to do is show up at their fave national park.

Areas where free admission doesn’t apply are:

  • Provincial or territorial parks
  • SĂ©paq parks in QuĂ©bec
  • Municipal and private parks
  • Parks or historic sites not operated by Parks Canada
  • Locations operated by third parties

Parks Canada experiences not included in the free admission are:

  • Camping and other accommodations
  • Reservations
  • Canadian Rockies Hot Springs
  • Mooring
  • Guided tours, hikes and programs not usually included with admission
  • Services provided by third parties
  • Fishing licences
  • Firewood
  • Parking
  • Permits (e.g. research, drone use)

Luckily for campers, the agency is also offering a 25 per cent discount on fees for overnight stays within those dates.

This initiative is part of the Canada Strong Pass, which the federal government introduced earlier this month to encourage Canadians to explore the country.

Other perks included in the pass are free admission to national museums, free VIA Rail travel for children aged 17 and under when accompanied by an adult, and a 50 per cent discount for young adults aged 18 to 24 at “selected participating provincial and territorial museums and galleries.”
