Hardworking couple "came to Canada with nothing," scores $70M jackpot
After years of hard work and being smart about their finances, one Canadian couple is adjusting to life as brand-new multimillionaires after a huge Lotto Max win.
Married couple Audrey and Wills W. are Brampton, Ont., residents who have been playing the lottery together for years. As a Mother’s Day gift, Wills decided to buy Audrey a Lotto Max Quick Pick ticket.
That weekend, news broke that someone in Brampton had won the top prize. After hearing the news, the couple’s daughter told her parents that she was convinced that they had won the jackpot.
So a few hours later, Audrey decided to check her ticket using the OLG app and saw that she had won $70. But when she showed it to Wills, he told her to look again because “there are so many more zeroes.”

The pair had managed to match the winning numbers 02, 06, 08, 33, 35, 43, 44, and bonus 21 during the Lotto Max draw on May 28, 2026 — they were now $70 million richer.
“When I realized it was $70 million, I was shocked,” she recalled. “I had to double-check to make sure it was real. That’s when I started jumping on the bed in excitement and then fell to my knees, overcome with joy!”
After processing their big win, they finally shared the news with their daughter.
“When we finally told her the news of the win, she smiled and said, ‘I knew it!'” Audrey laughed.

While at the OLG Prize Centre to claim their life-changing windfall, the couple said that they’re extremely grateful and recalled moving from Jamaica decades ago to build a better life.
“We came to Canada with nothing,” Audrey shared. “We worked hard, learned to save, and never lived beyond our means. It will take a while to get used to this!”
The couple said that they don’t have any major plans yet and are looking to trusted advisors to help them make “smart, responsible decisions.” They also want to share their good fortune with family and friends.
Audrey, who loves cooking, said she’ll be renovating their kitchen, while Wills wants to restore some vintage cars. They also want to travel, go on cruises, and build a dream home in Jamaica where they can spend winters before returning to Canada for the summer.
In addition to making plans, the pair is most excited about their newfound financial freedom.
“I’m ready for this next phase of life,” said Wills. “I’ve been working towards my retirement, and now, it’s going to be next level!”

Audrey said she’s excited to be on a beach, enjoying the sunshine, sand, and “drinks with little umbrellas in them.”
“I’m with Audrey,” Wills said. “I love to be by the sea. As long as I have my wife, a nice home, and the sun is shining, everything is good.”
The couple’s $70-million winning Lotto Max ticket was purchased at the Canco One Stop Gas Station on Steeles Avenue in Brampton.
